Arena years and headline acts

Rock, country, comedy, sports, and community shows turn Memorial Hall into a storehouse of shared memories.

The renovated hall became a regular stop for touring popular entertainment. Its walls accumulated posters, news clippings, autographs, and ticket stubs from Wayne Newton, Chicago, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Robert Plant, Reba McEntire, and many others.

Country music became especially important. In 1991, more than 6,000 tickets for two Garth Brooks concerts sold out in less than four hours.

Alongside touring acts, Memorial Hall continued to host school programs, sports, banquets, trade shows, civic ceremonies, and affordable local gatherings—the everyday uses that made the building personally meaningful to generations of residents.
